The proposed scheme forms part of M&S’s national estate restructuring strategy, which prioritizes larger, modern, out-of-town food hall formats with dedicated customer parking and streamlined logistics access.
Development leads confirmed that extensive pre-application technical work has been completed in coordination with Cumberland Council highways and planning officers.
If approved, the new facility will replace the retailer’s existing town centre presence with a modern, energy-efficient store designed to capture expanding regional food spend across West Cumbria.
